{"id":116965,"date":"2017-06-15T11:33:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T17:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/?p=116965"},"modified":"2020-01-09T15:12:10","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T22:12:10","slug":"stop-schedule-shaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/stop-schedule-shaming\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop Schedule Shaming and Get Your Life Back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve ever felt\u00a0bad about yourself after a long day that wasn\u2019t long enough to get it all done, you know all about schedule shaming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stopss.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-116967 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stopss.png\" alt=\"schedule shaming\" width=\"650\" height=\"816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stopss.png 650w, https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stopss-239x300.png 239w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Schedule shaming happens when we\u00a0tell\u00a0ourselves&#8230;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I should be\u00a0more organized.<\/li>\n<li>I should have\u00a0more check marks on my to-do list.<\/li>\n<li>I didn&#8217;t do as much as everyone else.<\/li>\n<li>I am lazy and unaccomplished.<\/li>\n<li>I let people down.<\/li>\n<li>I didn\u2019t do enough.<\/li>\n<li>I am not\u00a0good enough.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When I saw the Nourished Planner\u2019s #Stopscheduleshaming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BVBJ2XSBla2\/?taken-by=nourishedplanner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram post<\/a> (shown above), I knew exactly what they meant by schedule shaming. I have so been there! We jam every possible event, obligation, and to-do\u00a0into our calendars and lists and then hang our heads at the end of the day discouraged that we can\u2019t do it all. Or we compare and compete with the busy lives around us and feel less than enough if we aren\u2019t measuring up.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>The Washington Post<\/em>, Author Bren\u00e9 Brown said, \u201cThe expectations of what we can get done, and how well we can do it, are beyond human scale.\u201d Most of the expectation setting is an inside job. Our\u00a0focus is on\u00a0getting as much done as possible\u00a0instead of getting anything done well, or finding joy in what we are doing. When we try to juggle everything, we can&#8217;t enjoy anything.<\/p>\n<p>If we won\u2019t stop measuring, let\u2019s change the measuring system. Let&#8217;s\u00a0stop measuring who we are by what we accomplish. We need to measure less by what we cross off our to-do list, and more by what\u2019s on our heart, by how we feel, and by how we treat people.<\/p>\n<h2>Let&#8217;s stop schedule shaming and tell\u00a0ourselves &#8230;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Organization is overrated. Less is the answer.<\/li>\n<li>I am not my to-do list.<\/li>\n<li>Comparison is futile.<\/li>\n<li>Slow and steady encourages\u00a0more health and happiness.<\/li>\n<li>I will work with people who want my best not my busiest.<\/li>\n<li>I did\u00a0enough.<\/li>\n<li>I am\u00a0enough. In fact, I&#8217;m freakin&#8217; awesome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>It&#8217;s time to stop chasing time and start enjoying it instead.<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/nourishedplanner.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nourished Planner<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let&#8217;s stop schedule shaming each other too. If someone says no to a\u00a0request or invitation, shows up a little late for lunch, or takes a while to respond to an email, be graceful and grateful that they are taking care of themselves, and doing their best to navigate a hectic life. Instead of rolling your eyes (that used to be my signature move) or pushing others to do more, remember that we are all in this together. Less shaming.
