I heard from so many of you excited to let go of the idea that everything has to be perfect over the holidays (or anytime) that I want to share the story again.<\/header>\n<header><\/header>\n<header><\/header>\n<header><\/header>\n<header><\/header>\n<header><\/header>\n<header><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-118542\" src=\"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/burntcookies-512x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Holiday imperfection\" width=\"512\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/burntcookies-512x1024.jpg 512w, https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/burntcookies-150x300.jpg 150w, https:\/\/bemorewithless.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/burntcookies.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/header>\n<div>\n<p>One of the first things you might notice about our Christmas tree is the crooked star. I love our little star, but it will not stay straight on a tree. Years ago, I used to try to straighten it, but after a few days of the dog barreling into the tree or the cats using the tree as their own personal playground, the star would be crooked again.<\/p>\n<p>Now I embrace our crooked star. I don&#8217;t try to fix it or make it look like all the other stars and I don\u2019t apologize for it when people mention it\u2019s a little off-center. <span style=\"background-color: initial;\">I\u2019m ok with it. It\u2019s like me, like all of us \u2026 imperfect, unique, messy and perhaps a little off-center. It reminds me to let go and let things be what they will be, and let people be who they are.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Don&#8217;t apologize for crooked stars, messy wrapping, burnt cookies, or a home that looks lived in instead of picture perfect. We are in all of those things. Our imperfections make us perfect for each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">When we are willing to share ourselves as we are instead of who we think people expect us to be, and before we\u2019ve got everything straightened out, cleaned up or figured out, we give others a chance to see us for who we really are, to know our hearts, to fall in love with us, and perhaps we inspire others to share their crooked stars too<\/span><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">xo,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><em>Courtney<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, just before Christmas, I wrote about the crooked star on our tree.
